Happy New Year everyone!

I took a hiatus from the blog back in October to December to plan out what content I wanted to create on this platform for 2016. Now that that’s settled, I’m back. Normally in the first month of the year, people make resolutions to break bad habits or set personal goals to accomplish for the year. I stopped making resolutions a while ago because I would feel bad about myself if I didn’t reach my goal by the end of the year. However, this year I decided to make a few beauty-related goals – specifically about skincare.

3 beauty goals for 2016 | Clarisonic Mia2 and Paulas Choice Clear Kit

My Clarisonic Mia 2 and Paula’s Choice Clear Regular Strength Kit are my tools for achieving my beauty goals for 2016

1. Revamp my skincare routine to clear up my acne.

I have been suffering from severe acne since the seventh grade. In my teens, I tried products from the drugstore and prescribed medication from dermatologists and nothing really worked well. I also tried natural alternatives such as using organic apple cider vinegar, baking soda, etc. to no avail. In the past year, I have done some research on forums, blogs, and YouTube for products to try to clear up my skin again and constantly saw people saying great things about Paula’s Choice.

The past month I’ve been using the Clear Regular Strength Two Week Trial Kit. It’s a 3 step kit that includes a cleanser, exfoliant or toner, and a blemish treatment. So far, I really like it! My face has cleared up a lot and looks better. Whenever the full-size kit isn’t sold out, I would love to purchase it. I also received a sample of the Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant that improved the texture of my skin.

2. Getting adequate amounts of “beauty sleep”.

Most of us know the importance getting a good night’s sleep since childhood but do you sleep the recommended 7 to 9 hours? For a lot of people, including myself, sleep doesn’t come easy. One new practice I’ve been using is to unwind 30 minutes to an hour without using electronics. The light from your electronic devices alerts your brain which makes it harder to fall asleep. The more sleep you get, the more time your body has to repair itself.

3. Drinking enough water (especially in the winter and summer).

For some reason, it’s really hard for me to drink the right amount of water every day. I have made it a priority this year to drink more water and to slowly wean myself from drinking sugary juices and sodas. One way I like drinking my water is to infuse cucumber, lemon, and mint in it which is really refreshing. I’m also getting used to drinking green tea without using sugar, honey, or agave nectar.
